Soul Chaser Betty Character Designs Part 04

It’s time for another update with character and costume designs from Soul Chaser Betty.

First up: some of the updates I did to the original costume designs. Back in the 2000s I created some “paper doll” drawings of the main characters to work out their proportions and anatomy. But, I also used those poses as a base whenever I needed to create costume designs.

Fast forward several years and I started working on the sequel series. Before drawing issue 01 (Slumber Party of DOOM!), I dredged up those old paper dolls to create new costumes for the characters. First, I updated them to use the new character designs (head / face / hair) and sometimes re-worked the original costumes to add details or make adjustments.

Betty’s update is at the top of the post, and the following images round out the “farmhouse trio” of Betty, Rolf, and Grammy. In the coming weeks, I’ll be adding other characters from the original book as well new characters and costumes from the new series.

Rolf’s update included not just his head / face / hair, but also working out a better, more detailed design for his pants, boots, and armor.
Grammy’s design got updated for the sequel series, just like all the other characters. I don’t think Grammy ever got a proper “paperdoll” for making costumes back in the day, so I finally made one for her.
A costume design from way back in the day from the original graphic novel, but here it was updated with Betty’s latest character design (head and face).
Let’s face it, Betty wound up running around in her underwear quite a lot on her summer vacation, so I worked out how to draw that, just like any other costume design.

Thanks for checking these out. Remember, all these designs, with many others, can be found in the Soul Chaser Betty Design gallery.
