Ok, ok, I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve updated around these parts. We had the holidays, of course, but also personal life does rear its ugly head from time to time and remind me that it’s not all fun and games.
But hey, you came here to learn about the next adventures of the Mutt and her intrepid crew, the Salvage Hounds, right? So let’s get to it.
I’ve penciled all 26 pages of the next adventure and wanted to share some of the art here. Check out these panels from the upcoming book while I keep busy putting together a beta-reader book complete with letters. Then it’s time to dive right in and start inking!

Mi-cha lunges into action to save a fellow crew member! I love trying these more dynamic shots and pushing the action into three dimensions.
Here we see the gang hanging in the crew quarter lounge on the Mutt. Another way I’m pushing my art this time around is by building detailed 3D environments for commonly used locations. Doing this has allowed me to really design the environments and then concentrate on drawing what I enjoy most: the characters.
One of the real challenges of creating the art has been depicting the characters in zero-g. This means lots of “flying but not flying” poses, deep foreshortening, and odd angles, all things I have not traditionally been much good at in the past…
A new character in Volume 02, Syd is someone from Olivia’s past. Is she friend? Is she foe? Either way, she has a job that Olivia just might not be able to refuse…
Did I mention Syd and Olivia go waaaay back? When Olivia refuses to take a thumb drive with details about a job from Syd, well, Syd finds a place to leave it…
