Hey everyone, I’m currently hard at work inking the new Soul Chaser Betty book! I’ve started sharing some of the early results over on the Betty Facebook page (go check it out), but I have some new stuff to share right here.
The book is still a long way off (hey, I’m workin’ on it!) but I want to start revealing some details on the story.
First up is a new character! Sara is a young woman with ties to The Bureau, the mysterious group that Grammy used to work for during her younger years. In Book 07: Slumber Party of DOOM!, we learned that Grammy ran with this international organization, seemingly dealing with the occult in the years before World War II. We also learned she still had some ties to The Bureau fifty years later in 1985. As that story came to a close, Grammy was wondering if perhaps there was anyone still there who might be able to help Betty and her friends. After all, Betty carries the Mark of Cain, drawing all sorts of creepy-crawly nasties from beyond to the sleepy little town of Armstrong.
Grammy contacts The Bureau and it’s Sara who’s sent to help. Unfortunately, she finds herself drawn into a desperate struggle between Betty’s gang and a relentless presence from Nod: ferocious, feral, ghostly creatures hell-bent on chowing down on everyone’s favorite Soul Chaser.
Sara’s introduction is a real trial by fire. Thrust into a dangerous situation, her extensive training kicks in. She can be counted on to take charge, just as The Bureau has trained her. Unfortunately, not everyone is so willing to trust the new girl, let alone sit back and let her boss them around (<cough, cough> Betty <cough cough>).
Will Sara be a valuable new asset to the gang, or will this mysterious woman get in their way? And can The Bureau be trusted? Can Sara? Or does she have her own agenda to fulfill?
