Ok, you already know the new Betty book is out now, right? Right?
Soul Chaser Betty 09: The Haunting of the Renegade Blades dropped Oct 6th!, and I wanted to post one more tease of the final art in the book.

So, I’ve mentioned that the story involved an army of the undead coming for Betty on Halloween night. What I haven’t talked about is how much time it took to draw all. those. damn. ghosts!

I mean, an army of the dead can’t just be, like, five zombies walking around. For the “hero undead” (i.e. those that get a lot of screen time), I went ahead and drew them as needed a I penciled the book. For the greater “army?” Those I didn’t draw when I did my first pass at the art. I left them blank, or as minor stick figures. After all the pages were penciled, I then went back and spent (at least) a week drawing in nothing by undead. Creepy, rotting, ethereal, shambling undead. Everywhere!

Yeah. It took a while.
Remind me not to write stories that require a cast of hundreds for the baddies. (Naw. I’d probably do it again).
I can’t wait for you to read the new book.
Soul Chaser Betty 09: The Haunting of the Renegade Blades is 40 pages of spooky fun, featuring a 28 page story, 5 pages of detailed lore from Tonya’s Trapper-Keeper notes, and 6 pages of behind-the-scenes art.
