Soul Chaser Betty: The Haunting of the Renegade Blades Inks Preview (part 2)!
Ok, here we go! Let’s check out more inked panels from the new story, Soul Chaser Betty: The Haunting of the Renegade Blades!
(Grab the handles to swipe back and forth and see how the pencils were inked!)
Betty and Rolf out by the barn and facing off against the Renegade Blades . Here’s an example of a simple background where no 3D was needed.
Rolf summons geists against his foe. I’ve felt like the geists have lost something compared to their original design sketches from the graphic novel, so I went back to those old drawings for inspriation.
Here’s an example of a panel where quite a bit of the final effects will be added with the gray-toning stage. So, notice how the glows around the blades have not been inked.
This panel takes up most of a page in the middle of the book. I approached it like I was creating not just a splash page, but a full-fledged illustration. I also suspect that this will be colored for the back cover of the final book!
Another epic panel. So much of the inking here was adding the blacks of the cloak. I also recorded the day I inked this, so I plan on putting a video up on YouTube in the (hopefully not too distant) future!
Thanks for checking out the art progress on Soul Chaser Betty: The Haunting of the Renegade blades! Next time, I’ll be sharing the final page art, so stay tuned!
