Anime Central is this weekend, and since we can’t get together and geek out in person, it’s time to have a little virtual artist alley! So a big welcome to all the ACEN fans out there! Let’s pretend that we’re in a bustling artist alley: there are cosplayers blocking the aisles taking cute photos, people bumping through the crowd, and artists hawking their wares at the top of their lungs!
Speaking of which, let me tell you a little about myself!
Who the Heck is BMAN?
I’m Brian Babendererde—but don’t worry about pronouncing it, everyone just calls me BMAN. Twilight Tangents is my little corner of the interwebs.
I’m a veteran of the video game industry, having done art or game design on cult classics like the JRPG inspired SepterraCore: Legacy of the Creator, PSI-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, and Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity.
But I also write and draw the manga inspired comic series Soul Chaser Betty—plus, I have a ton of original art prints, art books, and I take commissions! So let’s check out all the stuff and see what’s new and what’s coming soon!

Comics and Graphic Novels!
First up, check out my graphic novel, Soul Chaser Betty! Here’s the elevator pitch: Betty is a girl spending her summer vacation with her grandma in the country, but she winds up spending all her time fighting monsters, renegade necromancers, and chaos demons—you know, typical park district activities—and it all takes place in the AWESOME 1980’s!
There’s a 176 page graphic novel collecting all six issues of the complete origin story, Soul Chaser Betty and the Demon Engine!
Then there’s the brand new, stand alone 40 page story Slumber Party of DOOM! If book one was about summer vacation, this story sends Betty back to school in the fall, only to find out that all the mean girls are turning into zombies!

Commissions and Original Art
Hey, I also like to do digital art commissions for fans at ACEN! Commissions generally start at $60 for single characters in black and white at 8.5×11 inches, and I try to keep rates reasonable for larger pieces and color as well. I also do full color sketch cards for only $10!
