Progress on the new Betty book is going well. With the inks and letters done, I’ve moved on to coloring the pages . I call it “coloring,” but I’m really working in black and white with gray tones.
With Slumber Party of Doom, I pushed the shading of the pages a bit, working towards a darker, more striking effect compared to the original graphic novel. A bit different, but not radically so. Working on Salvage Hounds, I felt more comfortable changing up the look of the art as it was a new story and universe. I loved the results so much, that I’ve decided to carry over that style to the new Betty book.
So here’s a couple samples of what I’m cooking up. I’m really digging this new direction, and I’m pushing myself even further than on Salvage Hounds. It’s taking a bit of time, but I think it’ll be worth the wait.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a reveal of more, including the title of the new story, a n unveiling of the new monstrous baddies, and maybe a few secrets.
